Satisfied Envy Free And Enjoying Life eBook Guy Jones

I was very intrigued by the book cover and the idea of living a satisfied life. After all, that's what the majority of people want, but the key is defining what is "contentment" and "satisfied". Ask 100 people what those words mean and you might get 105 different definitions! The subtitle of the book provides you with the book message and a power-packed little book it is!

Guy Jones doesn't try to tackle the monstrosity of "being satisfied" or "content" or "living happy" and all of the various ways and hacks you get with it. Rather, he tackles just one, but if you're going to attack one item for being satisfied, then the one to attack is ENVY.

It took me about an hour to read the book, but I will spend the rest of my life putting into daily practice the pot of nuggets of wisdom included.

Covered in five parts that include: "WHAT", "WHY", "HOW", "Before You Do Anything" and finally "the PLAN", this book combines history, medicine, psychology and practicality all focused on envy and overcoming it.

Nuggets I loved:

* The distinction between "envy" and "jealousy" in chapter 1, as well as what various religions and history teaches about envy.
* The Facebook comparison exercise in chapter 2 that all of us should take. I took it and my lists were so far out of balance it made me stop and really wonder how to fix it. Note: I kept reading and the answer was provided and I'm putting it into practice now

* Being a detail nerd I really enjoyed the analysis of our internal and external responses that envy elicits.

* Of course, I was anxious to get to the fixes and Guy Jones doesn't disappoint with short-term and long-term fixes. Each of these give detailed information and a detailed and actionable "Call to Action" Put just these into your daily life and you will find yourself satiated with content and happiness for yourself and others.

This is a reference book that I will keep on my bookshelf and in my Kindle. I know I will need to revisit the wisdom, as envy can rear its ugly head, but now I have the resource to work through it and past it faster. Thankfully Guy has provided this information, so I was able to quickly work through my "envy" of not having thought up this book idea first! :-)

Satisfied Envy Free And Enjoying Life eBook Guy Jones Reviews

This book is aimed at releasing a very dark "don't go there" area of our human consciousness--envy. When it rears it ugly head, our very existence can be disused physically and mentally. This book is an explanation and guide for a way out of it and resolving our issues with envy. This four-letter word can consume us but Mr. Jones, through his own experience analyzing every aspect of this feeling and being able to resolve it with systematic guidance. He reminds us to be aware of what appears on the surface is not always what it appears to be.
A rare book that takes a deep dive into the shadow of human beings. And I totally agree with the author when he says envy is one of our biggest enemies. All of us experience it at some point. I myself remember placing myself in unpleasant situations, driven with envy. What is great about this book is the distinction between jealousy and envy, and how one is more deep rooted than the other.

I enjoyed reading the historical perspective of envy. What pretty much shook the ground beneath my feet was to know of the different ways in which envy manifests itself. So sneaky! The author takes us through a deeply reflective, safe and evaluative journey of how each one of us experience envy. My favourite parts are the pre-prep sections about awareness, giving yourself permission, analyzing before acting and THEN getting into action. So much spaciousness, so much wisdom.

If you are keen on getting on a journey of exploring yourself, this book is for you.
I like books that I can relate to as a writer. This is one of them. Envy, jealousy? Hmmmm… Writers don’t have that, do they? Seriously, a quick and deep dive (those aren’t mutually exclusive) on the roots of envy, comparison cultures and pitfalls and traps to avoid if you want to love the life you have and stop worrying about what everyone around you has.

Once I was finished reading this book, I had a more in-depth understanding of some pretty nefarious feelings I’ve experienced. Awareness—that’s one of the self-help mechanisms the author outlines. If you think you might be jealous, chances are what you’re experiencing is envy. And in this book you’ll find some pretty convincing evidence that is the case. You’ll also find some great ways to deal with it. I did.
This book totally blew my mind! The author used many great metaphors to express what envy is, when it appears and how it happens. Half way through the book, I recalled some moments in my life that I was unhappy and even angry (mostly at myself). I had a journal about all these unhappy moments, but I never understood why. I thought by writing down my feelings would make me feel better. The truth is that sometimes it made me feel even angrier. This book is like a light bulb that made me realize what was really going on. It's envy! Obviously. All of my crazy reactions were envy symptoms! (Didn't know envy had symptoms until I read this book.) And I clearly didn't know how to deal with it.

This book provides a clear and very fresh approach to handling envy properly. From being aware of it, to allowing it, to analyzing the others, to analyzing yourself, and then to learn from each step. My favorite step is "analyzing yourself". Guy listed many great questions in this step that actually help to boost your self-esteem. Answering just a couple questions will immediately make you realize that your life is pretty good and you should be happy about it.

The Plan at the end of the book teaches you exactly how to implement the above mentioned steps. Focusing on making your own dreams come true is one of the cures.

I would like to close up with a Chinese old saying A contented mind is a perpetual feast. Great book! HIGHLY HIGHLY recommended.
